Journeyman Painter

We are looking to hire journeymen painters with at least three years of experience, but also in need of more experienced professionals.Please note that good English-speaking skills are essential for all candidates, as well as personal skills (customer and work relations).

At three years, the candidate should have the following:

• Own hand-tools, including brushes, hammer, caulk gun, box-knife, 5-in-1... The box knife and 5-in-1 should be handy at all times on the job.
• Ability to use a hand-masker with proficency.
• Ability to prep, including proper use of a pull-scraper, knowledge of different grits of sandpaper and their uses.
• Ability to caulk and fill, using bondo or spackle.
• Ability to cut and roll with reasonable proficiency.

• Above all, willingness to learn, train, improve and take direction.

A five year painter should also be able to

• Work independantly and complete basic jobs from start to finish without supervision.
• Have a better understanding of planning sequences, taking into account factors such as dry-time, weather, conflicts with other trades, etc.
• Use a paint sprayer, which includes cleaning and set-up.

A ten year painter should also posess:

• The ability to work within and lead a crew of people.
• The ability to take more complex jobs from start to finish.

• More advanced tools such as sprayer, ladders, masker, etc.
